Illegal management practices
Review Date: 2/27/2006 Reviewer: Anonymous
The problems started right away with the application form. I was seeking to add my fiancee as an occupant of the apartment. They use the standard Texas Real Estate Association form which among other things states adult occupants who do not wish to be added onto the lease can fill out one paragraph of information to check for a criminal background. However what they really do is run the credit of all adult accupants and attempt to collect a $300 additional non refundable admin fee for gliitches in the occupants credit history. They stated the fee was neccessary to guarantee payment of rent, which is not logical if the occupant is not signing the lease. The apartment management then discussed my finacee's credit report, over the phone, to me. This was a clear violation of her privacy rights and grounds for a lawsuit. They then stated if I removed my fiancee as occupant, they would do everything in their power to evict me if they decided she was stating in my apartment longer then 6 days. I told them my friends visit me daily, but that doesn't mean they are living there. Management then stated under their policy, anyone visiting an apartment for 6 consecutive days is considered living at the apartment. These was the worst, unprofessional treatment I have ever encountered. They do not even pretend to want you as a resident once you give them their nonrefundable application fee. This is a strong indication of how a person will be treated once they live here, so run now, before it is too late!!!
