We are under new management and they seem to be a bit better, but for some reason (they have always been female) seem to be above all of us. I find their attitude condescending. I come from Hawaii where I had much better experiences with the management. The staff at Crystal Springs seems very friendly and will send you a birthday and Christmas card, but do not be an hour late with the rent because they will impose a hefty fine. From where I moved I was late twice and because I was a good tenant they did not charge me any penalties. They will not accept any fault from the tenants, but when the air conditioning went bad for several days they did not want to pay for us to move to a hotel while it got fixed. After being in Texas for a year I have been able to see other apartments and in comparison the one I am renting is a bit too small for the price. The second room is too small for a bedroom; it might be a good office space. This place has a nice swimming pool, a volleyball sand court, and a very small gym. Since I hardly use these amenities then I am paying too much for facilities that I am not taking advantage of. Both gates are broken 80% of the time. If I want a remote to open the gate then I have to pay $30, so a couple would have to pay $60 if they want to have a remote for each in each of their cars. I think that the remote should be given automatically to all tenants and if the remote is lost or broken then they can ask the tenant to pay for it. I imagine that people get upset and keep damaging the gates, if everyone had a remote they would not have to keep spending on repairing the gates. People that live close to the front gate don t really need a remote because the gate can be opened with a code, but for the people living close to the rear gate they need a remote or drive all the way around the complex. I like the location because it is convenient to many stores, library, schools, DMV, hospitals, etc. The grounds are pretty and well kept; there are no problems with critters. There is covered parking for one car per apartment. This apartment complex has three flights and recently the stairs were changed from wood to cement, but the first step is at a different distance from all others. Therefore tenants have to remember that the first step is different from all the others in order to avoid falling. I imagine this problem is worse for the elderly or people with health problems. The water bill is shared among all the tenants in the particular building your apartment is located. Therefore it doesn't matter much how much you conserve in water you might not get much savings in the water bill. The washer is useless, I have asked to have it changed or removed so that I can use the space and they say that it is working, but when it leaks when it is used. Since the apartments are small the gazebo is the place to hold gatherings, it is a pretty place but it s use is limited if it is raining, or null during the cold months of the year. In other apartment complexes there is a closed space with a large TV, a refrigerator, and even a stove for the convenience of the guests. It would be ideal if they put up walls and some large windows to keep out the cold, rain, or humidity during the summer time.
