Apartment Review for Desert Shadows Apartments - San Antonio, TX

My husband and I moved into Desert Shadows in October of 2006. When we came to visit the property we were very impressed with all of the amenities as well as the washer and dryer in the units. We thought it would be a wonderful place to raise our baby. Later to find out what the place was REALLY like. Upon our move in we filled out a work sheet telling what we thought needed to be fixed with the apartment. We mentioned that the dryer was extremely old and had a large hole in the lint catcher. We also mentioned that there were soft spots in the floor, large stains on the floor, and a few other minor things. Desert Shadows agreed to fix most of the problems mentioned however that was not the case. We received our new washer and dryer 2 WEEKS after we moved in after they kept giving us excuse after excuse. Then they took several weeks to take care of the other minor things such as the HUGE hole in the kitchen floor. Then as for the soft spots they claimed that there was no safety issue so my husband and I went on with our lives. A few months later after our son was born the soft spots started to get worse and worse! Finally they sent a company to come in and look at the soft spots and it turns out all the concrete was cracked! We had an ex building inspector come out and take a look at it and he said that it was most likely a foundation problem. So, now my husband, 3 month old son, and I are out looking for another place to live no thanks to Desert Shadows. DO NOT rent from this place!
