Apartment Review for Hearthstone Apartments - San Antonio, TX

I moved in heartstone apartments in May 2008. This was an urgent move so I need availability asap. Under these circumstances, I did not do any research on this apartment, it was the worst experience of my life. When I moved in, the carpets were just cleaned, a little wet, once dried, I saw yellow stains in the living room. Asked around, found out the had large dogs, so I had dog urine in the living room. Maintenance is SLOW, I needed repairs for my dripping tub, disposal, this took up to 2-3 weeks to fix. I called the office once a week, and they would always make some excuse, one in which they had only 1 guy available. I had a water leak with the washer and dryer connections in my bathroom, which lead to the dining room. I called maintenance to come check this issue, my concern was of mold growing behind wall and under carpet. They never came, called and called, again always made some excuse. I personally wrote them a letter stating my concern with mold. The called me and they set up appointment, but maintenance never came. I called them again, and they agreed to have someone come that same day. Again no one came. I called Code Compliance to investigate, they came to investigate, gave notice to manager. Maintenance had 8 days to complete this order. They came on the 7th day, repaint the wall, paint was suppose to be repainted, never did, and replace the foam under carpet. They never checked behind the wall for mold. I spent money on doctor visits due to symptoms of mold. To this day, the issue of mold was never investigated. Parking was never available, I had to park toward the back of the apartment complex, when I lived in the front. And please, do not be late on your rent, they will charge you an extra $50, plus water bill $50. Fees are what makes this place still stay in business. When you move out, make sure you give them your 30 day notice, I have given them more than 30 day notice, receive notice on door stating they need my notice or i would have to pay an extra $100 plus rent. Of course this was on Friday, i was moving out on Sunday. I confronted them, had given them a copy of the notice. One month later, I receive a letter from a collection agency stating I owe Hearthstone $577.00. So again, I would not recommend this place to ANYONE..
