Hostile environment

I've had several issues with this apartment. I moved in since it was near my family's home. It seemed nice. But just because there is one nice employee doesn't mean anything. The lock on my balcony door didn't work. The hole where the latch was supposed to lock into was too large. I had asked several times to have it repaired. I didn't think it was too much of a deal, being that I lived on a third floor. Until my car was gone one day. Somebody had climbed the balcony railings onto my balcony and entered my dwelling through my balcony door and stole my car keys, and took off with several other of my things. They tried to charge me a fee for my pet feces. Does that sound wierd? I saw a note on my door saying that I owed a certain amount of money. When I inquired about it, I was told that I was seen by somebody else letting my dog run around without a leash and defecate on the property without properly cleaning up. When I asked how this "person" knew who I was, I was told that they followed me to my door. I DON'T LET PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW FOLLOW ME TO MY DOOR. That's a big no-no for a single woman. When I brought that to the representative's attention, that's when she changed her story and told me that she would watch me open my door (remember I live on the third floor) let my dog run out all by themselve, and let her back in whenever she felt like it. Yeah right! I treat my dog like child. Did she take pictures? Where is this proof from this beyond belief fabricated story? Her story changed 4 times when she tried to come up with excuses. When she then told me she had a detailed letter in my file, when I asked her to furnish me a copy, all of a sudden, it wasn't a letter in my file, it was an email that she discarded. There were two groups of kids who lived on either side of me. And they were always throwing parties. At least 6 days a week! Nobody could ever keep the noise control down. Not to mention the parking, as somebody else has. The parking is horrible! I finally had to pay for a covered parking space in order to park near my home. If not, it was a 5 building hike just to get to my building. Why should I have to pay to park where I already pay to live? So anyhow, I renewed my lease and I didn't want to pay for the spot anymore. Especially since the apartments guaranteed me that I would no longer have to worry about parking troubles. But a couple weeks later, somebody dropped my car off in my old covered parking spot not realizing it was mine, and the "assistant manager" wanted to charge me a whole month for the space. When I told her that I wanted her to collect a whole month parking charge from everybody who has mistakenly parked in my spot when I had it, she let me speak to the "head manager." At that point, she realized the mistake, and for one night, not even 12 hours worth of parking, she decided to charge me a pro rated rate. The only reason that she knew my car was parked there was because somebody called a tow truck out for my vehicle, they attempted to attach the unit to my vehicle, damaged up to $1800, and then took off without the car for fear of having to pay the damages. I decided to keep the spot in October, and they asked me to sign a paper saying that I was only intending to keep it for only a month. I never brought the signed paper in to keep it for just one month, because I was intending to keep the parking spot longer. Especially after the "assistant manager" stated if I did not return the assigned parking spot sticker, she would just charge me for the next month as well. Being that she had me understand that, I paid the next month over for the amount of the carport and kept my assigned spot sticker. And then... both of my vehicles were towed in less than 4 hours of time. With my proved stickers for the spot. And their comment on it was because I did not specify in my MEMO area of my check that the extra amount was for my carport, they left the spot showing as vacant on their paperwork, making my vehicles "ilegally" parked even though I paid for the spot. This the management at this place is incompetent. They can't even furnish working phone numbers from their corporate offices. I'm surprised that when the management company changed, they didn't change their "managament" representatives. I would never refer anybody to live here. Save yourself the headache, and heartache. Look for something outside 1604. I've heard great reviews from out locations out there. |
